Cream blush is my favourite kind and there just aren’t enough affordable options out there. That is about to change though, with the new Maybelline New York Master Glaze Cream Blush Sticks. During World Mastercard Fashion Week they were said to be launching early 2014, but I saw the displays in some drugstores before the New Year.
The Master Glaze Cream Blush Stick looks like a very chubby tube of lip balm. It rolls up and there is a good amount of product in the tube. The packaging is really cute and new for Maybelline. It looks chic and edgier than the classic Maybelline packaging, which I actually really like.
The shade I picked up is 20, Pink Fever. It’s a pretty petal pink and it’s quite opaque. I was surprised it showed up so well on my olive skin, as light pinks usually tend to be too pale on me. This one had enough pigment that it looked like a nice pink flush on my cheeks. There is a slight shimmer to it which I don’t mind. Below you can see it as just one swipe, on the left, and then blended out on the right.
There are a few other shades I saw in the display, including a really pretty coral colour. The display was pretty empty by the time I saw it but I look forward to seeing the rest of the shades when they become more widely available.
Opinion: Personally I like this blush a lot. Cream formulas are really easy to blend and this is something new from Maybelline. It’s a blendable basic that I will definitely be reaching for throughout the new year.
Overall: This cream blush has a lot of colour and applies smoothly. It’s pretty and soft but still shows up on tanned skin. An affordable cream blush stick is just what we all needed to start the new year so if you see one of the new Maybelline displays you should stop and take a look.
