My one minute eye shadow trick for a smoky eye

This little trick was a total accident but it worked like a charm. I used the new Maybelline New York Color Tattoo Leather 24HR Eyeshadow in the shade Deep Forest and accidentally gave myself an instant smoky eye. I got so many compliments on my eye makeup that day and it was one of the simplest looks I’ve ever done.

Here’s what happened: I had some black eyeliner on from the day before (but you can use fresh liner too!) and I quickly smudged the Color Tattoo over my whole lid, covering up some of the liner. Deep Forest is a greige-green shade and the part over the black liner got a littler darker. I blended it over my whole lid using my fingers and then dabbed a little bit more on my crease. Since this shadow can be layered it made the crease darker, the lid fairly neutral, and the part over the liner was smokier.

I’m already a fan of the Maybelline Color Tattoo shadows but this one was really great. I never would have imagined such a good look from this shadow because it looks fairly plain in the pot. It ended up being quite versatile and the colourwas great to build on for different opacity.

With a bit of mascara I was good to go (and in a rush) but somehow my quick fix to cover up old liner made some sort of smoky eye look that worked. I got a bunch of compliments at work that day and it was such a simple look. Having one great shadow that can be used in multiple ways is a huge time-saver and great multi-purpose product. I will definitely be using this Colour Tattoo again to recreate the look, this time on purpose!
