Maybelline Asia Baby Lips

I recently did a swap with my wonderful new friend, Vanessa, who is living in Hong Kong right now. She told me about some really neat Maybelline products and was kind enough to send me some really cool things to blog about. One of the most interesting things Vanessa told me about were the Maybelline Asia Baby Lips, which are totally different than the ones we have in North America.

These Maybelline Baby Lips have completely different packaging than the ones in Canada. The Asian ones are packaged like regular chapstick tubes, instead of the bigger cylinder shaped ones. They also have different colours and flavours, like these two Vanessa sent me, Watermelon Smooth and Berry Crush.

Aside from the different look, these were pretty similar to the Baby Lips I know and love. The formula was soft and smooth, and the colour was light enough for everyday use but can be layered for a more opaque look. The Berry one was more pigmented and is a shade I can see myself wearing frequently.

I love that I have these unique Baby Lips to join my ever-growing collection. They’re cute and convenient to keep in my purse, and have a light sweet scent.

Look What I Found! Limited Edition Baby Lips!

I was so excited when I spotted these limited edition Baby Lips. I am a huge fan of the Maybelline New York Baby Lips and I have a whole range of colours that I use, but I’m always up for adding to my stash. There were a few other pairs on the shelf but these were the most pigmented and I liked them best. Baby Lips are great for the cooler weather, and they even have a special line of Maybelline New York Dr. Rescue Baby Lips last Winter, which I posted about here.

These limited edition Baby Lips shades are Winter Flush and Ruby Star. Winter Flush is more of an orange-red hue and Ruby Star is more of a berry red shade. They have the same formula and feeling of the original Baby Lips and are semi-sheer but can be built up for a more opaque colour. These ones have a peppermint scent and a slight tingle on my lips, which I don’t mind.

The colours are kind of similar but different enough to both be useful in my daily makeup routines. I wear the Ruby Star shade for a bolder look and later it for a deeper colour, and keep the Winter Flush one as a lighter everyday shade. Winter Flush reminded me of my favorite Baby Lips shade, Cherry Me, from the original collection.

Although the package says 8 hours of hydration I don’t quite get that long. I do get a few hours of soft, moisturized lips, and a pretty colour too, so that’s worth it to me. These are basically lip balms but better. They keep my lips soft and safe from the cold winter weather and they have a huge range of shades to pick from.

If you’re a fan of the original Baby Lips, or the Electro Baby Lips, then you’ll probably like these two new shades. Since they are limited edition I would suggest you get out there and start searching for them before they’re gone!

Have You Seen The Newest Baby Lips Collection?

The well-loved Maybelline New York Baby Lips Lip Balms are getting some new addition that you’ll be sure to love. Baby Lips are great moisturizing lip balms that come in a wide variety of shades ranging from clear to sheer to opaque. Joining the Baby Lips Electro, Baby Lips Dr. Rescue, and the original Baby Lips collections is the new Baby Lips Crystal Collection.

The shade shown above is Beam of Blush, a medium toned pink. The fun part about the Baby Lips Crystal lip balms is that they contain a hint of shimmer. You can see little glitter particles in the balm, and although it isn’t super noticeable on the lips it does offer a slight shimmer that previous Baby Lips shades didn’t have.

As usual these balms are super soft, the formula goes on smoothly, and they smell fruity and delicious. The colour can be built up a little bit or left sheer, so they’re great for everyday wear.

Summer Music Festival Makeup Picks

There are a lot of everyday beauty products that are more prominent in the summer, such as lip balm, sunscreen, and waterproof mascara, but for special events sometimes you need a little something extra. I have two beauty products that are my go-to choices for a fun summer music festival, and with Digital Dreams coming up this weekend I wanted to share my picks with all of you.

Sephora Collection Eye Glitter + Primer and Maybelline New York Baby Lips Electro

For a bright, bold, and attention-getting eye I like to use coloured glitter all over my lids. Since it’s hot and sweaty in the summer you definitely need something to make this stick, so a glittery shadow with a built in primer is the perfect choice. The Sephora Collection Eye Glitter + Primer is a great solution for a festive eye look that’s simple to do and lasts all day. This two-in-one has a sticky eye shadow primer in the flip top, and loose glitter eyeshadow underneath. The shade I have is 01 Aqua, which makes my brown eyes totally pop.

The other product I’m packing for summer music festivals is the Maybelline New York Baby Lips Electro Lip Balm in Pink Shock. This super soft, moisturizing lip balm packs a punch of colour and gives me a bold pink pout. It’s easy to reapply throughout the day and keeps my lips soft and safe from the sun with ingredients such as Shea Butter and Vitamin E.

These two products on their own are quick ways to amp up your makeup look at any summer event, but put together they create a totally fun festival look which will be perfect to dance the day away at Digital Dreams.

The Cure For Dry Lips This Winter Is Less Than $5! Check Out Maybelline New York Baby Lips Dr. Rescue

A lot of people love the look of winter with the pretty white snow and bright lights all around. One thing we don’t love is the effects of this cold weather. Chapped lips are an annoying side effect of winter but luckily there’s a pretty new product on the market that can help relieve those dry lips and add a touch of colour too.

Maybelline New York Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Medicated Balm in Soothing Sorbet

Maybelline New York Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Medicated Balm in Soothing Sorbet

Maybelline New York Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Medicated Balms come in a range of 6 soft shades that soothe chapped lips. The medicated formula has a hint of eucalyptus and claims to deliver 12 hours of hydration.

The six shades are as follows:

35 Too Cool, 40 Pink Me Up, 45 Just Peachy, 50 Soothing Sorbet, 55 Coral Crave, 60 Berry Soft
You can check out the rest of the shades at maybelline.com.

All other Baby Lips that I have tried, including the Baby Lips Electro collection, have delivered great moisturizing formulas, pretty tints of colours, and sweet scents. The Baby Lips Dr. Rescue balms are just the same and have all of the same great qualities. The colours are subtle tints that look like ‘your lips but better’ which is perfect to apply when you’re on the go or without looking.

Opinion: I love lip balms that help soothe and/or prevent dry lips but I get bored with clear balms or Vaseline. Baby Lips Dr. Rescue balms provide the benefits of basic Chapstick but also add some cute colour to step it up a notch.

Overall: Great formula, good shades, and extremely affordable. If you suffer from dry lips during the winter you might want to pop by your local drugstore and grab one of these lovely little lip balms.
