One of my favourite things about the holiday season is the added sparkle to everything. From decorations to part dresses everything gets a little boost of bling this season, and your makeup should be no different. Revlon has an awesome limited edition line of sparkly eye shadows and liners to create eye-catching looks.

The limited edition Revlon Photoready Eye Art Lid + Line + Lash is a dual-ended product with a super sparkly liner matched with a creamy shadow. There are 10 colour duos to choose from and they all pack a punch of glitter and pigmented shadows. The shades I have are Fuchsia Flash and Cobalt Crystal.

The shadow end of the tube is a creamy formula that is easy to blend and very opaque. Many of the shades are frosty and metallic looking. The liner side is a glitter formula in a gel base, with a skinny brush for easy application. The pairs go well together but can also be mixed, matched, or worn individually.

Both ends of the product are super easy to apply and glide on really smoothly. They have great colour choices and all of them are bold and bright. I love that the glitter can be layered for lots of sparkle, or lightly applied for a more spread out sparkly look. The liner side can be used as a thin line of glitter or blended for all over sparkle. It can even be applied to lashes for something really special.

The shadows have a great formula and last for quite a long time. I didn’t have any problems with creasing or flaking when I wore the shadow. I love that the duos are paired together so I can grab one product and know that it will work well together and create a complete look. Although the shades are pretty bold and bright, and maybe not for everyday wear, they are awesome for a special night out or a holiday event and I will definitely be reaching for them this season!

My Two Polish Picks From The OPI Nordic Collection For Fall 2014

New seasons always bring new styles and that doesn’t only apply to fashion. As excited as I am about boots and legging, I’m also excited about Fall beauty products. From dark berry lipsticks to new nail polish shades, Fall brings a new colour palette to play with. I’ve picked out two fabulous nail polish shades from the new OPI Nordic Collection that will be perfect for Fall.

As always this collection has some adorably themed names including Do You Have This Color in Stock-Holm? (which actually was out of stock when I went shopping!) and Going My Way or Norway. All of the shades are great Fall choices but the two I picked are My Dogsled is a Hybrid and My Voice is a Little Norse.

OPI My Dogsled Is a Hybrid

My Dogsled is a Hybrid is a beautiful light sea-foam green shade. It looks like a lighter version of the classic Tiffany blue colour from China Glaze, aptly named For Audrey. My Dogsled is a Hybrid is a great soft shade that will really complement the darker tones of Fall. I can totally see this mani popping when paired with brown, plum, or grey outfits.

My Voice is a Little Norse is the one glitter of the collection, and it’s a versatile polish for any season. It has a holographic sparkle and a slightly grey coloured base. It looks awesome over a lot of different colours, including red, black, and navy blue. I can see this shade being quite handy when it comes around to the holidays, since a little sparkle can spice up and special occasion.

Summer Music Festival Makeup Picks

There are a lot of everyday beauty products that are more prominent in the summer, such as lip balm, sunscreen, and waterproof mascara, but for special events sometimes you need a little something extra. I have two beauty products that are my go-to choices for a fun summer music festival, and with Digital Dreams coming up this weekend I wanted to share my picks with all of you.

Sephora Collection Eye Glitter + Primer and Maybelline New York Baby Lips Electro

For a bright, bold, and attention-getting eye I like to use coloured glitter all over my lids. Since it’s hot and sweaty in the summer you definitely need something to make this stick, so a glittery shadow with a built in primer is the perfect choice. The Sephora Collection Eye Glitter + Primer is a great solution for a festive eye look that’s simple to do and lasts all day. This two-in-one has a sticky eye shadow primer in the flip top, and loose glitter eyeshadow underneath. The shade I have is 01 Aqua, which makes my brown eyes totally pop.

The other product I’m packing for summer music festivals is the Maybelline New York Baby Lips Electro Lip Balm in Pink Shock. This super soft, moisturizing lip balm packs a punch of colour and gives me a bold pink pout. It’s easy to reapply throughout the day and keeps my lips soft and safe from the sun with ingredients such as Shea Butter and Vitamin E.

These two products on their own are quick ways to amp up your makeup look at any summer event, but put together they create a totally fun festival look which will be perfect to dance the day away at Digital Dreams.

A Sparkly Pink Polish That Looks Out Of This World

I’ve always been fascinated with celestial nail art.. you know the ones that look like starts and space. I’ve never tried doing on myself, and they seem like very time consuming manicures to do. I still hope to try one day but until then I found a pretty pink glitter nail polish that looks like a scene from outer space.

I layered OPI Pink Yet Lavender over Essie Licorice and came up with a stellar combination. It looks like the milky way or some starry sky. I tried it over OPI Big Apple Red as well and liked that combination too – maybe even for Valentine’s Day?

Whatever colour I tried this polish on I really liked it. Something about the tiny silver glitters and the larger pink ones made a beautiful mix together. I really like this polish and specifically adore it over a black base.

The Perfect Fit For A New Year’s Eve Manicure Featuring Essence Effect Nails

3D black and silver glitter pieces layered over the perfect black nail polish. The glitter is coincidentally called 04 Tonight at Midnight. Hello perfect New Year’s Eve manicure, am I right?

Essence is a cute Eurpoean cosmetics brand that has slowly drifted into Canada in the last few years. They have really cheap items that are actually pretty good quality. There are cosmetic items as well as nail polish and nail art products. Nothing has quite taken my interest as much as the most recent item I purchased, which is the Essence Effect Nails 3D Glitter. The names are a little confusing and I think that has something to do with translating the words to English.

Anyways, back on track, if the name Tonight at Midnight didn’t already seal in the fact that this was the perfect New Year;s Eve mani, then the stunning sparkle will surely convince you.

The loose glitter comes in a cute little pot with a flip top lid. The instructions say to pour the glitter into the lid of the pot.  The base colour I used was Essie Licorice (sidenote: this is the absolute best black nail polish out there) and I followed the instructions on the box. While the polish was wet I dipped my nail into the loose glitter in the lid of the pot. After a moment I gently tapped it off so the excess would be removed and fall back into the lid. Here’s a tip – when you’re done you can pop off the lid of the glitter and pour the leftover back into the pot.

Essence Effect Nails 3D Glitter in Tonight at Midnight

I let the glitter dry on my nails for a while and sealed in it with a thick top coat. My nails sparkle so much and I cannot imagine a more suitable manicure for New Year’s Eve. The glitter is called Tonight at Midnight so clearly this was meant to be.

If you’re looking into loose glitter for your nails this was a super easy and extremely affordable option. I will definitely be looking at the other shades next time I pass an Essence display at the drugstore.

Have a Happy New Year With These Three Sephora Products

If New Year’s Eve isn’t the time for glitter eyeliner then I don’t know when is.

For a simple and sparkly look to ring in the New Year, I’ve got three products from the Sephora Collection to show you. They came in a cute little gift set for the holidays, but it isn’t online anymore. You can check out the rest of the Sephora Collection at sephora.ca and check out the three products separately.

Sephora Collection Outrageous Volume Dramatic Volume Mascara, Glitter Mascara and Eyeliner, and Long Lasting Kohl Pencil

I got the trio together just after Christmas and it was on sale for $13. The products are mini sizes but for such a steal they are more than worth it.

My favourite of the three is the Sephora Collection Glitter Eyeliner and Mascara in Silver. This is a two-in-one product, liner and mascara in one super sparkly tube. At the end of the skinny wand is a thin brush to apply the glitter as liner, and further up the wand is a tiny mascara brush. It has a really strong staying power and the glitter goes on in a smooth line. It is in a clear base, however the glitter is very well distributed and allows for more glitter than clear when applied.

Next up is the Sephora Collection Outrageous Volume Dramatic Volume Mascara in 02 Ultra Black. This has to be the fattest mascara tube I have ever seen. Surprisingly the brush isn’t very thick though, it looks a lot like the glitter liner/mascara brush. Although the brush is quite skinny the mascara does deliver a lot of volume. Aside from the repetitive name, it is a great mascara and I’ll continue to use it.

Last of the trio is the Sephora Collection Long Lasting Kohl Pencil in 01 Intense Black. There isn’t too much to say about this, it’s a classic black eyeliner and the formula is smooth to apply. It lasts a very long time and the pencil is very precise so it works well for thin lines.

Opinion: All three products are really good and they made a lovely little trio together. My favourite is the glitter eyeliner/mascara, which I really love as a liner. It shows up really well and is perfect for a big event or evening out. The mascara and eyeliner are both great as well, more staple products that special occasion, and they will both be put to good use in my makeup bag.

Overall: If you only check out one of these products please make it the glitter eyeliner/mascara. It’s the best of the bunch and will be perfect for a sparkly smoky eye on New Year’s Eve.

Sparkle From Tip to Toe With These New Year’s Eve Nail Polish Picks

New Year’s Eve is a chance to wear lots of glitter, drink champagne, and count backwards from 10. At least to me it is. Whatever you plan to do for 2014 you can always add a little extra glitz. Here are a few pretty polishes that will help you sparkle like the ball dropping in Times Square.

The top three glitter polishes I picked to ring in the new year are OPI The Living Daylights, China Glaze Techno, and OPI Teenage Dream. The Living Daylights comes from the Skyfall collection, Techno is from the Electropop collection, and Teenage Dream is of course part of the Katy Perry collaboration.

All three polishes are super pretty on their own, and you can layer them to cover the whole nail. Another option is to layer them over a bright colour to match your outfit, or even black to make the sparkles really pop.
