L’Oreal

April Empties

At the end of every month I always a have a bunch of products that I’ve finished. I’ve never shared them before but if you head over to Pretty Chatty you can see the things I loved and used up this month!

Check out the post here and see which ones I would repurchase!

My Favourite Makeup Remover Right Now

Have you ever tried the L’Oreal Paris Sublime Soft Gentle Micellar Solution makeup remover? This remover is so soft on my skin and doesn’t leave it oily or dry.

I only use makeup remover for a bold lipstick or a lot of eye makeup, but my pet peeve is when the remover leaves my skin feeling oily after. Then I have to wash my face after and it seems like so many extra steps. I also hate when makeup remover leaves the delicate skin near my eyes all red and dry. With the Sublime Soft remover I don’t have to deal with either of these problems.

This remover is fragrance free and hypoallergenic, so even the most sensitive skin can use it. It’s smooth without being oily, and leaves skin feeling soothed instead of dry. What more could you want in a makeup remover?

Must Have: L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro Spray & Set

I know it’s early in the year but I have already found my all-time favourite beauty product of 2015. The new L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro Spray & Set Makeup Extender is an incredible setting spray and has totally changed my makeup game.

This setting spray feels super luxurious and melts my makeup together perfectly. It blends my overall look and helps it last way longer than it normally does. I wore this for a few days around the holidays, and it made a world of difference. Typically my makeup fades and I feel like half of it is gone come 5pm, but with this setting spray I looked just a fresh at 10pm.

I even used this for New Year’s Eve, and in the wee hours of the morning after the countdown I still looked like I did when I left my house that morning. It helped my makeup stay put, kept the shine away from my naturally oil-prone skin, and made my makeup blend seamlessly. This product is by far my favourite item in my beauty stash so far, and I see it becoming a holy grail staple for me.

This spray has no scent and is oil-free so it’s all benefits and no harm. It feels great to apply and I didn’t need much to get great results. I only used two or three sprays (the bottle recommends 4 to 6) and although it was a little wet at first it sunk in nicely in a minute. It feels like nothing on my skin and hasn’t caused any breakouts or side effects on my sensitive skin. So far, so good!

If there is one beauty product you need to buy this year it is definitely the L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro Spray & Set Makeup Extender.

L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Mascara

Happy Holidays to all of you beauties! I hope you each had a great holiday and spent some quality time with loved ones. I can’t believe Christmas is over, but luckily there is one more holiday coming up soon. New Year’s Eve is only a few days away and I am already planning my outfit and makeup!

One of my favourite beauty products is a bold mascara, and I have a great one to show you guys just in time for the new year! The new L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Mascara is a new take on the other Voluminous Butterfly mascaras, and this one has a double wing brush to coat all of your lashes.

L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Mascara

L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Mascara

The L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Mascara has a brush that looks like an arrow, with a tapered tip and wider base. The bristles are quite stiff and made of plastic, but that means they grab each lash and separate them for intense volume and fullness. Since there are so many bristles they catch each lash and fan them out for extra volume and definition. The formula is dark and easy to apply, and with only two coats I had dramatic bold lashes.

The Perfect Pure Red for the Holiday Season

Tis the season for holiday parties and festive events, and what better beauty look is there than a classic red lip? The combination of red lips and a little black dress is perfect for any holiday gathering you have this month, and with the recent collection of gorgeous red lipsticks from L’Oreal Paris, you’re sure to find your perfect red.

The limited edition L’Oreal Paris Collection Exlusive Pure Reds by Colour Riche has a beautiful red lipstick for each of the spokeswomen. With stunning women like Eva Longoria, Blake Lively, and Jennifer Lopez there are a range of reds that will suit any skin tone. There are even matching mini nail polishes for each red! There was the same sort of collection for nude lipsticks and polishes, which I wrote about here.

They have super chic packaging too. The tubes are square and matte, with a bit of a snakeskin-like print. They look expensive and chic, and I feel extra glam applying red lipstick from one of these pretty tubes.

The lipsticks are smooth and super pigmented, so you get a punch of bold colour with just one swipe. Each shade is a little different but they all deliver bold colour. Paired with lush lashes (try L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara) and a little eyeliner you’ll have a classic beauty look in no time. Red lipstick has stood the test of time, with superstars like Marilyn Monroe, Taylor Swift, and everyone in between rocking the trend.

I Got So Many Compliments on the L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara

For the past few weeks I have been wearing one of my favourite mascaras and I have gotten quite a few compliments on my lashes. The L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara delivers dark, full, fluffy lashes that makes people take a second look! You can check it out on the L’Oreal Paris website here.

L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara

I usually apply two coats and they go on easily. The brush is pretty basic, just a straight tube shape with no curve. The bristles are pretty stiff but I like that and it allows every lash to get coated in a solid layer of mascara.

One person said that my lashes look like little feathers, another said they looked very fluffy, like fabric, and a lot of people just said my lashes looked good. I don’t hear these things often and those are totally the kind of compliments I like to hear about my mascara.

Fluffy and feather-like is right! This mascara gave me a full and soft looking fringe, with a super dark formula. I wear the waterproof version so it stays on extremely well and gives me intense eyelashes. I love how dark and voluminous my lashes look, and the name is really accurate – Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara.

Mascara Monday: Two Products I Love For Perfectly Defined Lashes

This past weekend I did a mini-cleanup of my makeup drawers (yes, all 7 of them) and I came across a few of my favourite mascaras that I recently finished off.  These mascaras are both pretty great and I rotated them throughout my makeup routine until they ran out. Now I have another couple (more like ten) that I am switching around this season, but these past favourites will always have a special place in my heart.

One of the most well-known mascaras out there is Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Mascara, and I can absolutely see why. I had a little travel size tube that I completely ran dry and I fell in love with this mascara. This mascara was my no-fail choice that I reached for so frequently. I knew that I could swipe on two coats of this and get perfectly defined long lashes that looked so good they could be mistaken for falsies. This mascara got me tons of complements and it was perfect for an everyday full fringe. I definitely fell in love with the travel size one and I don’t know what is taking me so long to buy the full size. At almost $30 it is a little steep for my student budget but I love the results so much that I might make the plunge. You can check it out here at sephora.ca for more info.

Two Great Mascara Brushes L-R: Benefit Cosmetics They're Real! and L'Oreal Paris Telescopic Shocking Extensions

Two Great Mascara Brushes L-R: Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! and L’Oreal Paris Telescopic Shocking Extensions

The second mascara that I have run dry recently is the L’Oreal Paris Telescopic Shocking Extensions mascara. This mascara has a very defining brush and offers precise lashes that are long and defined. This one only costs around $10 so it’s got a price tag that makes my wallet much happier. The brush has 200 bristles so every lash gets coated and lengthened. For a clump-free formula and affordable price tag, this mascara is great option for an everyday lash look. You can check it out here at lorealparis.ca or look for it at your local drugstore.

Both of these are great choices for long lashes that are separated and stylish. No clumps or flaky formulas to be found, these two picks are perfect for defined lashes any day of the year.

Nude Lips: Check Out These Classic Nude Lipsticks You’ll Love

Nude lips are a staple beauty look since they pair well with a lot of other looks. You can go for an all-over light look with a neutral eye and nude lip, or you can draw the attention to a bold smoky eye and leave the lips nude as contrast. Whichever way you rock it, a nude lipstick is a classic choice.

I recently rounded up my favourite berry lipsticks for Fall, which you can check out here, and it was such a hit that I decided to pull out my best nude lipsticks too. I personally like to pair a nude lipstick with a super dramatic and dark eye look, so I have quite a few favourites that you might like to check out. See my perfect nude lipstick picks (and pics) below!

Tarte LipSurgence Matte Lip Tint in Exposed: This is a lovely lip crayon from Tarte that is a gorgeous nude in a matte formula. Nude lips look great in matte finishes, and this one is definitely a high-quality choice. It applies fairly smoothly and lasts for a while, and even though it’s matte it doesn’t feel dry or heavy.

Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipstick in 03: If you’ve been reading The Beauty Badger for longer than a week you’ve probably seen me raving about this lipstick line. I’m so obsessed with these Kate Moss lippies and have them in all kinds of shades, both matte and cream finish. This one is a great nude shade that isn’t too dark or too light. It’s pretty close to my natural lip colour and it goes well with my skin tone, so this is the one I use most frequently. Check out my post on the rest of these lipsticks here.

L’Oreal Paris Nude Couture Collection in 610 Eva’s Nude: Eva’s Nude is inspired by the beautiful L’Oreal Paris spokeswoman Eva Longoria (shout-out to all the Desperate Housewives fans reading this!) and is part of the L’Oreal Paris Nude Couture Collection. This collection featured matching nude lipsticks and nail polishes each of the spokeswomen, including Eva, Doutzen Kroes, and Jennifer Lopez. Eva’s Nude is my personal favourite of the lipsticks but there are a variety of shades to match different skin tones. You can even check out the matching nail polishes in my review here.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in 025 Sky Line Pink: Although this says pink in the name I would consider it a very light nude. It’s a pearl finish so there’s some shimmer to it, and it’s the lightest of my picks, but I like ti because it’s different. Instead of the normal nude lip this one offers a bit of a twist with a lighter look and some added sparkle to it.

Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick in 700 Nude Delight: This moisturizing lipstick is soft, shiny, and smells great. It has a fresh scent that i quite enjoy, and feels super light and creamy to apply. This lipstick really does feel hydrating and it’s a great choice for an affordable product that looks and feels like it should be much more expensive. Check out all the Moisture Renew shades here.

Nude lipsticks come in a wide variety of shades because everyone has a different ‘nude’ colour. You can find one to match yours perfectly or go for something a little lighter or darker, depending on your preferences. Or you can try them all like I do and have endless options for a classic nude lip!

Pro Tip: A perfect partner for a nude lip is a serious smokey eye, so grab your best black eyeliner and smudge away for a sexy, smoldering stare to compliment your classic lipstick!

Is there another nude lipstick that you adore? Did you find your perfect nude shade? I’m always looking for new products suggestions so leave a comment and let me know your favourite nude lippie!

Berry Lips: Beautiful Lip Products That Are Perfect For Fall

The weather is getting crisp and cool, and that means it’s time for sweater weather and dark lipstick! It’s sad to say summer is officially over but I’m pretty excited about cozy clothes and boots so it’s not that bad. Aside from Fall fashions I also am excited about the other things Fall brings – lots of tea, movie nights with my man, and of course Fall beauty trends!

One of the biggest changes for Fall beauty is the darker lipsticks that come out. Beautiful berry shades start popping up when the weather gets cold, and to get you ready for this pretty Fall trend I have rounded up a bunch of beautiful berry shades you should check out!

Keep in mind that berry shades can range in tone from being more purple-based or red, so check out which ones you like best for your skin tone. Both are equally as pretty but some berry hues can end up looking more like grape juice instead of wine.

Sephora Collection Nano Lip Pencil in 09 Pleasant Plum: This nano lip liner is perfect to outline one of the pretty berry lipsticks below, or to use as a full coverage product. Using a lip liner all over your lips will make it last longer than regular lipstick. Check out this super-pigmented lip liner here.

L’Oreal Paris Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain in 186 Berry Persistent: This lipstick stain is glossy and wet looking, but lasts for hours. It’s hydrating and packed with pigment so you get the best of both worlds – a lasting stain and a lightweight gloss. Check it out here to learn more.

Maybelline New York ColorSensational Lip Color in 410 Blissful Berry: This is a traditional lipstick that is super opaque and smooth. It applies like a dream and delivers a bold punch of colour in one simple swipe. Check out this creamy lipstick here.

CoverGirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm in 255 Jam Twist: This gloss and balm hybrid is moisturizing. light, and extremely smooth. It’s more sheer than a lipstick but still offers the right shade of berry in a less opaque product. Check out my review of these balms here.

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick by Kate Moss in 107: This matte lipstick lasts for hours and looks amazing. It has a smooth formula and intense colour that looks great with the matte finish. The Kate Moss lipsticks are my go-to lip products and this one is no exception. Check out my full post on these lipsticks here.

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss in 09: This is like the non-matte twin sister of the Kate Moss Matte lipstick. This is another beautiful berry shade that has the same smooth formula and long-lasting pigment. Another perfect lip product from the Rimmel London lineup. Check it out here.

Pro Tip: If you’re worried about looking too much like Lorde you can lighten up any lipstick by dabbing it on with your fingers instead of applying it directly.

Get The Look: Rachel Bilson on Hart of Dixie

Hart of Dixie, starring Rachel Bilson

I just started binge-watching another show on Netflix and all I can focus on is the main character’s makeup. The show is Hart of Dixie, starring the adorable Rachel Bilson. Not only is she a total style icon (hello, dressy shorts!) but her makeup looks always make me want to press pause and whip out my eyeliner.

Rachel Bilson has brown hair and brown eyes, just like me, and I think that’s why I relate to her looks so much. I feel like I can actually try them myself. Jamie King, the other female lead in Hart of Dixie, is a blonde, blue-eyed beauty, and as much as I love her Southern belle looks, I know they would look much different on me.

After watching a few episodes (okay.. binge-watching season one in a few days) I have come to love the makeup looks Zoe Hart rocks. Even in a small town she has her eyeliner game on point and always has a great neutral lipstick. In addition to some great pictures of Dr. Zoe Hart, I’ve also complied a few products to help get the adorable, sassy, doe-eyed look that Rachel Bilson rocks on the show.

To get her heavily lined eye look I would recommend a smooth gel-like liner that is easy to blend and smudge. A great option for this is the L’Oreal Paris Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner. This creamy liner is a breeze to apply and can be blended for a smooth, smoky look.

For full lashes like Dr. Zoe Hart, try the Maybelline New York The Falsies Volum’ Express Mascara. The curved brush gets every lash and the falsies-inspired formula offers lots of volume and length.

Dr. Zoe Hart always has glowing skin and you can get the same rosy glow and a subtle bronzing with one just product, Maybelline New York Dream Bouncy Blush in Coffee Cake. This golden-hued blush is a great way to add a slight highlight to cheekbones without going for a super-girly pink shade.

To get the neutral lip looks that Rachel rocks try one of the CoverGirl Jumbo Gloss Balms. These sheer gloss balms come in 16 pretty shades so you can find the perfect one for your everyday look. You can check out my review of them here for more information.

So there you have it. An easy how-to to get the adorable look that Dr. Zoe Hart, a.k.a. style icon Rachel Bilson, wears on Hart of Dixie. Now I’m only on season one so far so don’t tell me any spoilers but let me know if you watch this show too!
