Manicure Monday: The Number One Nail Polish You Need For Fall 2014

Not ready for summer to be over yet? Me either.

Luckily there’s a nail polish that can cure your blues and bring you one of the prettiest polishes you’ll ever see. OPI Do You Have This Color In Stock-Holm? from the Fall 2014 Nordic Collection is the only nail polish you need this season. It is absolutely stunning and borders between a neon bright and a classic creme.

OPI Do You Have This Color In Stock-Holm?

Do You Have This Color In Stock-Holm? is a gorgeous blue-based purple and it is seriously bright. I’m honestly not a fan of purple in general but as soon as I saw this colour I knew I needed it in my life. It’s hard to describe because it’s both a bright shade of purple and deep shade of purple. Totally unique combination and I don’t have anything else like it in my stash of 500 nail polishes (no I’m not joking) so that means it’s quite special.

Another great thing about this shade is that it was a breeze to apply. It took two coats and applied smoothly.  It was pretty shiny on it’s own so I skipped the top coat.

Even though I’m not a purple fan in general I could not stop staring at this while I was wearing it. It’s quickly made it’s way into my top 20 list and that’s also very hard to do with over 500 bottles of competition. Whether you like purple or not I definitely recommenced checking this one out as soon as you can.

OPI My Dogsled Is a Hybrid

My Two Polish Picks From The OPI Nordic Collection For Fall 2014

New seasons always bring new styles and that doesn’t only apply to fashion. As excited as I am about boots and legging, I’m also excited about Fall beauty products. From dark berry lipsticks to new nail polish shades, Fall brings a new colour palette to play with. I’ve picked out two fabulous nail polish shades from the new OPI Nordic Collection that will be perfect for Fall.

As always this collection has some adorably themed names including Do You Have This Color in Stock-Holm? (which actually was out of stock when I went shopping!) and Going My Way or Norway. All of the shades are great Fall choices but the two I picked are My Dogsled is a Hybrid and My Voice is a Little Norse.

OPI My Dogsled Is a Hybrid

My Dogsled is a Hybrid is a beautiful light sea-foam green shade. It looks like a lighter version of the classic Tiffany blue colour from China Glaze, aptly named For AudreyMy Dogsled is a Hybrid is a great soft shade that will really complement the darker tones of Fall. I can totally see this mani popping when paired with brown, plum, or grey outfits.

My Voice is a Little Norse is the one glitter of the collection, and it’s a versatile polish for any season. It has a holographic sparkle and a slightly grey coloured base. It looks awesome over a lot of different colours, including red, black, and navy blue. I can see this shade being quite handy when it comes around to the holidays, since a little sparkle can spice up and special occasion.

Although these are the two I fell for, the whole collection consists of some great nail polish shades. Which ones are your favourites from the OPI Nordic Collection?

OPI Pink Yet Lavender glitter nail polish

A Sparkly Pink Polish That Looks Out Of This World

I’ve always been fascinated with celestial nail art.. you know the ones that look like starts and space. I’ve never tried doing on myself, and they seem like very time consuming manicures to do. I still hope to try one day but until then I found a pretty pink glitter nail polish that looks like a scene from outer space.

I layered OPI Pink Yet Lavender over Essie Licorice and came up with a stellar combination. It looks like the milky way or some starry sky. I tried it over OPI Big Apple Red as well and liked that combination too – maybe even for Valentine’s Day?

Whatever colour I tried this polish on I really liked it. Something about the tiny silver glitters and the larger pink ones made a beautiful mix together. I really like this polish and specifically adore it over a black base.

Do you think this glitter polish looks like a galaxy?

Hey Baby, Love.Angel.Music.Baby. and 4 in the Morning from the OPI Gwen Stefani Collaboration

Get Glam with the Gwen Stefani Nail Polish Collection from OPI

OPI has recently released a new celebrity collaboration with none other than Gwen Stefani, rocker chic and fashion icon. Gwen Stefani, lead singer of No Doubt, is one of the edgiest girls in the music business and with her successful L.A.M.B. clothing and fragrance lines it is no surprise she’s working with OPI on some of the coolest polishes for the season.

This collection is the first to feature Satin finish polishes, which dry to a really cool satin-matte texture. There are a few in the collection that have this finish, while others have a Creme Gloss or other texture. The seven limited edition shades in the collaboration is as follows:

Hey Baby, I Sing in Color, Love.Angel.Music.Baby., 4 in the Morning, In True Stefani Fashion, Push and Shove, and Over & Over A-Gwen.

The three colours I was most interested in were Hey Baby, Love.Angel.Music.Baby., and 4 in the Morning.

Hey Baby is a super bright pink that is a great middle ground between bubblegum girly pink and bold hot pink. It’s a Creme Gloss finish so it is super shiny and looks perfectly opaque in two coats. I don’t use a top coat with it since it is so glossy on it’s own.

Love.Angel.Music.Baby. is one of the Satin finish polishes in the collection. It is a pale gold with shimmer that looks super luxurious. It almost looks like one of the Liquid Sand polishes from OPI. but it doesn’t feel bumpy like those do. The best way to describe the texture of this polish is a cross between the Liquid Sand polishes and a matte polish.

4 in the Morning is a black Satin polish with some shimmer to it as well. It dries super quick and is very opaque. It’s a great go-to for something slightly different than a plain black polish.

All three of these are really great shades and the entire Gwen Stefani collaboration looks just as good. Way to go OPI!

Sparkle From Tip to Toe With These New Year’s Eve Nail Polish Picks

New Year’s Eve is a chance to wear lots of glitter, drink champagne, and count backwards from 10. At least to me it is. Whatever you plan to do for 2014 you can always add a little extra glitz. Here are a few pretty polishes that will help you sparkle like the ball dropping in Times Square.

L-R: The Living Daylights, Techno, Teenage Dream

L-R: The Living Daylights, Techno, Teenage Dream

The top three glitter polishes I picked to ring in the new year are OPI The Living Daylights, China Glaze Techno, and OPI Teenage Dream. The Living Daylights comes from the Skyfall collection, Techno is from the Electropop collection, and Teenage Dream is of course part of the Katy Perry collaboration.

All three polishes are super pretty on their own, and you can layer them to cover the whole nail. Another option is to layer them over a bright colour to match your outfit, or even black to make the sparkles really pop.
